Komatsu executives and team members celebrated the opening of the company's new office and administrative building in Longview, Texas, with a ceremony and tree dedication.
March 7, 2024 — Yesterday, Komatsu marked the official opening of the company’s new office and administration building in Longview, Texas, with a ceremony and tree dedication. The new 56,000-square-foot building at 2400 S. MacArthur St. upgrades and consolidates multiple company functions into a single location on the company’s manufacturing campus.
“We greatly value our partnership with the city of Longview, and this investment in another new building on our campus is a reflection of Komatsu’s commitment to the southside of the city,” said Jesse Dubberly, General Manager, Longview Operations, Komatsu. “With this brand new energy-efficient facility, we want to demonstrate that Komatsu continues to be a solid community partner that offers good, family-sustaining jobs.”
With office facilities for up to 230 people, as well as an employee center that includes a café, marketplace, indoor and outdoor seating, multipurpose room and Komatsu store, the new building also houses a Komatsu Customer Experience Center to showcase the company’s legacy and ingenuity.
The architectural design team for the project was Arkansas-based Polk Stanley Wilcox, while Transet Co. served as general contractor and Johnson & Pace was the engineering firm.
Designated a “mother plant” within the network of Komatsu’s global facilities, the Longview facility has research and development, design and manufacturing capability on one campus. Mother plants are tasked with strengthening the production competitive edge of their plants as well as those of their “child plants” that manufacture the same models.
The Longview campus has design and manufacturing responsibility for Komatsu’s electrical drive and SR (Switch Reluctance) hybrid drive systems for the company’s electric drive wheel loaders, including the WE2350-2, the world’s largest wheel loader. Additionally, the campus supports Komatsu’s global mining business through manufacturing assembly of other key parts and modules for electric rope shovels, rotary and track drills, trucks for surface mining, and underground hard rock mining trucks and wheel loaders.
