South African Mathematics Foundation

The South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF) is a national organisation dedicated to promoting mathematics education and excellence across South Africa. Its core activities include organising mathematics competitions such as the South African Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO), developing teacher training programmes, and advancing STEM awareness in schools—particularly in under-resourced communities.

Through its partnership with Komatsu Foundation Trust, SAMF delivers targeted support to Komatsu-adopted schools across several districts. This collaboration enables learners to participate in SAMO and provides teachers with access to the Mathematics Problem Solving Course; a professional development programme aimed at enhancing classroom instruction. Together, SAMF and KFT are driving meaningful change by improving mathematics outcomes, empowering educators, and inspiring learners to pursue STEM careers. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to educational transformation and community upliftment.
