Komatsu employees across the region enthusiastically participate in earth day activities. Some of the activities include:

Jwaneng – Waste Reduction
Held a successful mass clean up and waste reduction awareness campaign at Sese Village. The objective of this initiative was to promote waste management through separation/sorting, recycling, and reduction with the sole purpose of environmental conservation.

Orapa Branch – Waste reduction and Energy Conservation
The event took place at Mokopi Conservation Trust Predator Park.. Activities of the day included: Litter picking and disposal, trimming overgrown vegetation around the lion’s captivity cage and surroundings, mounting solar lights around the cage and the mounting of a waste bin.

Francistown Branch – CO2 Reduction 
Planted 20 tree at Centre for the deaf. Projects from previous commemorations were also re-visited on the day.

Gaborone Branch- CO2Reduction
Tree planting and general environmental conservation education for St. Josephs primary school. 30 trees were planted by standards 1 to 4. A collaboration between Komatsu & Forestry department has been established to promote environmental conservation and tree preservation in schools and the community.
As a build up towards Earth Day, Komatsu Botswana also participated at a national tree planting activity organized by forestry department at Boate village whose quest the way to rehabilitate barrow pits 

Mozambique initiatives:
Komatsu Mozambique organized an awareness campaign at the Vera Occhiena Primary School, located in Moatize City. The campaign was aimed at educating children about the importance of implementing environmentally sustainable practices through waste management and CO2 reduction. Besides planting trees, rubbish bins made from empty oil drums were handed to the school for waste management and segregation and  

In addition to the planting of trees and waste segregation, a lecture was conducted emphasizing the importance of environment conservation, where all students made drawings, poems, songs and dances concerning the best practices of environmental conservation. In this session, school kits were handed to students who excelled in these activities.

Namibia:
Komatsu Namibia planted trees at two schools and also supplied vegetable seedlings for a Soup Kitchen garden

South Africa:
Employees across South Africa celebrated Earth day with tree plantings and trash clean-ups.
