Renewable diesel is a type of diesel fuel that is chemically almost identical to traditional fossil fuel diesel, but it is produced from “waste” cooking oil and animal fat that would otherwise not be used for food. This makes it a more sustainable option compared to traditional diesel.
Renewable diesel can be used in diesel engines without modification and mixed with regular diesel in any proportion, making it easy and fast to integrate into your fleet’s operation The fuel must meet global standards, such as EN15940 and ASTM D975. This helps ensure the seamless integration of our products with your diesel engines, allowing for a straightforward transition from petroleum-based diesel without requiring adjustments to fleet machines and vehicles.
Renewable diesel costs depend on the state and local municipalities in which your operations are located. For instance, in some states, such as California, pricing is more favorable compared to fossil fuels. Other states may offer renewable diesel with pricing comparable to or higher than that of standard diesel. Consult with your local supplier for the most up-to-date pricing information.
Renewable fuel has a much smaller carbon footprint than fossil fuel diesel during production. Renewable diesel is derived from sustainable feedstocks such as fats, oils, and greases. It is hydrotreated, similar to refining petroleum into finished fuel. Renewable diesel may be used as a drop-in replacement for petroleum diesel.
Like conventional diesel, renewable diesel functions effectively across a wide range of temperatures. The fuel's properties ensure reliable performance in both cold and hot weather conditions, so seasonal variability should not be a concern when choosing renewable diesel.
HVO and renewable diesel fuel refer to the same product, which is produced from hydrotreated fats, oils and greases. “HVO” (hydrotreated vegetable oil) is the preferred term in European and other markets. “Renewable diesel” is the preferred term in the U.S. market.
