Komatsu offers complete drilling retrofit solutions.

Retrofitting jumbo machines with key components offers underground hard rock mines substantial advantages

September 13, 2021 — To provide a solution for aging underground hard rock mining equipment and help prolong the life of machines, Komatsu will spotlight several drilling retrofit solutions at MINExpo 2021. Komatsu is the only OEM that offers complete retrofit solutions compatible with all major and most other OEMs allowing mine operators to retrofit nearly any brand of drilling or bolting machine they might have in their fleet. Komatsu’s retrofit offerings encompass the following: Montabert drifters and Intelsense controls, Timberock feeds and bolting heads, and now the new J-LOK P pumpable resin system from JENNMAR.

Drilling retrofits can enable underground hard rock mining operations to extend the longevity and usefulness of an existing drilling fleet overall. They are a great solution for mining operations looking to reduce maintenance and repair costs and improve productivity.

Retrofitting existing drilling machine components with Komatsu’s offerings has significant advantages:

  • The potential to reduce downtime and improve your drilling and bolting maintainability with common parts and components, which may help minimize any unplanned stoppage
  • Standardization of drilling fleets with all the same Komatsu drilling and bolting components that can help streamline mining operations and aid in operator adoption
  • Customized assessments from retrofit experts that can help identify and solve your unique drilling challenges with a focused application and solution optimization approach

Located in Central Hall C3, the Komatsu booth (#7027) at MINExpo 2021 will feature the WE1850-3 wheel loader, as well as the company’s unified and expanded mining offerings. Additional solutions will be highlighted at neighboring booths for Modular Mining, a Komatsu technology brand (Booth #7671), and Immersive Technologies (Booth #7583) and Hensley Industries (Booth #5401), both Komatsu subsidiaries.
