Komatsu observes 10 national holidays and offers three floating holidays so employees can celebrate personal, cultural, or religious occasions.

Vacation time off

Most U.S. employees start with 15 days of vacation per year, with more time added as tenure grows.

Winter holiday

Our company-wide holiday shutdown begins Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day, giving employees time to spend with loved ones and recharge for the year ahead. 

Short-term disability (STD)

Short-Term Disability (STD) insurance provides income replacement for up to 17 weeks for employees who are unable to work due to a qualifying medical condition. 

Family medical leave act

We provide leave options, including FMLA and other approved leaves of absence, to support employees during qualifying life events and medical situations. 

Parental leave 

Komatsu provides paid parental leave following the birth, adoption, foster placement or surrogacy of a child. Both birthing and non-birthing parents are eligible after three months of employment.

This leave runs concurrently with FMLA where applicable and begins after Short-Term Disability (if applicable). Parental leave is separate from other paid time off. State-specific requirements may apply.

Bereavement

Bereavement leave is available to support employees during the loss of a loved one. Time off is provided based on the relationship, recognizing both the emotional impact and the practical responsibilities that come with loss.

Three Floating Days to Observe Personal or Cultural Holidays 

Employees receive three floating holidays each year. Some local sites may designate some or all floating holidays for facility-wide observances or planned shutdowns. Any remaining floating days may be used at the employees’ discretion, in accordance with local scheduling policies.
