Marriage is an important milestone and a qualifying life event under our benefits plan. This means you have the opportunity to review and update your benefits coverage and personal information outside of open enrollment season.

Here’s a quick checklist to help you stay on track:

  • Update your marital status

  • Update your legal name (if applicable)

  • Review your home address, phone number, and emergency contacts

Review & Update Your Benefits

  • Add your spouse to medical, dental, and vision plans (if eligible)

  • Update beneficiary designations (life insurance, retirement plans, and other applicable benefits)

  • Review FSA/HSA elections, if applicable

Submit Required Documentation

  • Upload a marriage certificate or other required documentation, if requested

  • Complete updates within the required timeframe to avoid delays in coverage

If you wish to enroll a domestic partner in your benefits coverage, you may do so only during Open Enrollment, as it is not considered a qualifying life event.

To Add a Domestic Partner:

  • Confirm your partner meets Komatsu’s eligibility requirements

  • Enroll your domestic partner during Open Enrollment

  • Submit required documentation within the specific timeframe, including a signed and notarized Domestic Partner Affidavit, one document showing a shared financial or living arrangement (e.g., joint tax return, shared lease or mortgage)

If you are planning to retire, take these steps to prepare:
