Komatsu's history of electrification goes back decades. From electric generators in 1921 to electric rope shovels and drive trucks in the 60s to the PC210E all-electric mid-sized hydraulic excavator with lithium-ion battery technology that Komatsu launched at Bauma 2022 in Munich.
Komatsu’s Longview, Texas facility has been at the forefront of developing hybrid technology equipment since the mid-2000s, including hybrid hydraulic excavators like the PC205 in 2008 and, most recently, the HB365LC-3 in 2023.
