Careers
Komatsu invests in people who shape the future of mining and construction. Our apprenticeship programmes help young South Africans gain technical skills, workplace experience, and the confidence to create lasting impact in their communities.
Komatsu’s apprenticeship program caters for the mining and construction sectors. The apprentice program runs over 4 years and 6 months, and apprentices can qualify in the following trades: millwright, heavy equipment mechanic, electrical and auto electrical.
During their apprenticeship, learners receive both theoretical and practical training, preparing them for the workplace. Apprentices also rotate between departments and sections, gaining experience on a wide range of equipment, and working with various mentors. The hands-on training program includes Used Equipment, New Equipment, Field Service, and Reman Division. Apprentices also attend Phase 1 and 2 training at an outside service provider.
Apprentices that qualify at Komatsu, are in demand in the mining and construction industries, and we pride ourselves on the quality of qualified artisans produced.
