Komatsu Analysis Tools

Keep your machinery in top condition

Komatsu Analysis Tools were developed to ensure the integrity of your machinery. Maintaining your machine’s high productivity and performance are our top priorities!

Using the analysis tools, you can analyze a history of tests performed on your machinery to detect, for example: abnormal conditions, wear beyond acceptable limits, and loss of fluid properties or contamination. Periodic analysis of this and other information prevents premature wear and future failures, while also reducing operating costs and machine downtime and increasing the productivity of your Komatsu machinery.

KOWA (Komatsu Oil Wear Analysis)

What is KOWA?

The best way to deal with a catastrophic failure in your machine is to prevent it from happening. “Komatsu Oil and Wear Analysis” (KOWA) is Komatsu’s oil analysis program, designed to support you in making maintenance decisions and performing predictive repairs by analyzing trends identified in the condition of your equipment’s oil.

Every component with moving parts experiences a normal level of wear, and all these wear particles end up in the oil. Although small, these particles are easily detected through the KOWA oil analysis program. The KOWA oil analysis program detects an increase in elements in the oil that may indicate abnormal wear or excessive contamination, allowing you to take preventive action before a failure occurs.

Why use KOWA?

No other type of service can identify changes in wear trends or contamination issues as accurately as KOWA. In the lab, we identify particles and contaminants in your lubricant, and the results are interpreted based on your equipment’s history to determine a wear trend. This diagnostic process, combined with scheduled maintenance, will help you avoid high, unscheduled costs from catastrophic failures.

1. Test   A lubricant sample is collected by a technician from an authorized Komatsu dealer and sent to one of our testing laboratories.
2. Report Once the analysis is complete, we will send you a report detailing the wear history and patterns of all major components of your equipment.
3. RecommendationsBased on the results and trend analysis of the key components of your equipment, we will recommend the best proactive course of action.
4. Guided decision  Based on the facts, you decide on the best course of action for your equipment to maximize its service life and reduce maintenance costs.

Undercarriage inspection and measurement

KUC (Komatsu Undercarriage Inspection)

Proper management of the undercarriage on your excavator and crawler dozer is essential to extending the service life and productivity of the entire system. In most cases, the option to “run it until it breaks down” is not the best approach.

Based on your machine’s application and wear rate, your Komatsu dealer can estimate the remaining hours of your undercarriage, the scheduled maintenance date, and the necessary parts, resulting in reduced downtime and maintenance costs.

Regular inspections and timely maintenance will extend the service life of your undercarriage, increasing productivity, reducing machine downtime, and also lowering your maintenance cost ($/hour).

The Komatsu Dealer Network, through its field product support representatives, is equipped to perform all necessary measurements and inspections to determine the wear percentage of your undercarriage. Based on this data and other critical factors, they can recommend the optimal maintenance schedule for your machine’s undercarriage.

Fast, simple, and effective.

Komatsu preventive inspection

When was the last time you scheduled a preventive maintenance check for your Komatsu equipment? If you’ve never used this type of service, there’s a good chance your machine isn’t performing as well as it should.

Keeping your Komatsu equipment in good condition requires much more than simply making repairs after breakdowns or malfunctions occur. Through the PM-Clinic Preventive Inspection service, we offer your Komatsu fleet an efficient, low-cost solution that reduces downtime and can identify potential failures in your equipment before they occur.

PM clinic

What is checked

Dozens of components on your Komatsu equipment are checked during the PM-Clinic. We can summarize this inspection as follows:

  1. Visual inspection of the equipment (damage, loose bolts and threads, leaks, and loose hoses);
  2. Checking the electrical voltage, pressure, and operating temperature of the systems;
  3. Rotational speed of the equipment’s mechanisms;
  4. Operating speed of the equipment;
  5. Checking the travel system (speed, wear, operation);
  6. Piping (fasteners, condition);
  7. Inspection of safety items;
  8. Analysis of the equipment’s work area and addressing questions with the operator.

Following the inspection, a detailed report is provided to the customer, informing them of any necessary adjustments, repairs, or corrections. So, be proactive and keep your equipment running smoothly at all times.

The benefits of using PM Clinics

PM-Clinic offers numerous benefits, including:

  1. Increased equipment uptime;
  2. Scheduled maintenance intervals and times;
  3. Reduction in unexpected costs;
  4. Extended service life of your equipment;
  5. Reduced fuel consumption;
  6. Increased productivity.

PM-Clinic is available for the entire Komatsu machinery line. We recommend that all inspections and checks on your Komatsu equipment be performed regularly, and PM-Clinic is the best tool for this purpose.
