This policy sets out Komatsu Australia Corporate Finance Pty Limited's approach to the collection, handling and disclosure of your consumer credit-related information, including information about your credit applications and credit accounts with us and your credit reporting information that we obtain from credit reporting bodies (CRBs).

This policy is relevant to current and former credit customers, as well as other individuals we deal with in connection with credit we provide (such as guarantors and directors).

The types of credit-related information we collect, use and disclose

We collect, hold and disclose various types of credit-related information, including:

  • Your current and prior names and addresses, age, occupation (including employer name) and driver's licence number
  • Details of credit applications, including credit provider name, type and amount of credit, and access to your credit information
  • Information about credit provided to you, including type, characteristics and maximum amount
  • Dates of credit contracts and when they are terminated
  • Your repayment history
  • Overdue payments (more than 60 days) and subsequent repayments
  • Serious credit infringements
  • Arrangements with credit providers
  • Court proceedings, insolvency information and publicly available credit-related data
  • Credit scores, ratings and evaluations
  • Administrative details such as account and customer numbers

In this policy, we refer to all of the above collectively as credit information.

How we collect credit information

This information may be collected:

  • Directly from you or your representatives (e.g. applications and forms)
  • From credit reporting bodies and other credit providers
  • From publicly available sources
  • From your use and repayment of accounts

How we hold your credit information

We may hold your credit information in physical or electronic form, including on systems operated by our service providers.

We protect your information using physical, electronic and procedural safeguards. Access is restricted to personnel who require it for their role, and staff are trained in proper handling of credit information.

We may use your credit information for purposes including:

  • Assessing credit applications and guarantors
  • Deriving credit scores and evaluations
  • Managing credit accounts and developing services
  • Participating in the credit reporting system

Your rights in relation to CRBs

Opting out of direct marketing pre-screening

You may request CRBs not to use your information for pre-screening for direct marketing.

Fraud protection (ban period)

If you believe you are a victim of fraud, you can request a CRB to restrict use or disclosure of your credit information.

Disclosure to other recipients

We may also share your credit information with:

  • Other credit providers
  • Related companies
  • Service providers (e.g. credit assessment, debt collection)
  • Guarantors or security providers
  • Entities involved in debt assignment or securitisation

We will verify your identity and typically respond within 30 days. Access may be subject to legal limitations. No fee applies for requests, though administrative charges may apply for access provision.

Correction of your credit information

You may request correction of inaccurate credit information. We aim to resolve requests within 30 days and will notify you if more time is required.
