Your path to electrification starts with innovative SR technology that converts diesel to electrical energy. With the SR process, motors become generators, supplying energy to the KESS system for on-demand use of added and substantial power — as high as 1,100 HP.
Kinetic Energy Story System (KESS)
During propulsion, diesel energy is converted to electricity. Energy flows from the motors and is stored in the KESS unit. During acceleration, the diesel engine and the stored KESS energy generate an additional 550 HP in underground LHDs and 1,100 HP in surface wheel loaders.
SR motor efficiency
Less impact stress on gearing and a high torque-to-inertia ratio mean faster response and increased acceleration. Lower switching frequency as compared to AC systems, promoting longer power electronics and motor insulation life.
A path toward electrification
KESS hybrid technology can result in 30% less fuel consumed than conventional diesel LHDs. The WX18H and WX22H can help reduce ventilation needs and help you drive toward zero emissions and electrification of your underground mining operation.
