Our GET (Ground Engaging Tools) products have been highly prized by customers ever since Komatsu acquired Hensley Industries, Inc., the world’s No. 2 GET specialist company, in December 2000. Here, we introduce KMAX, which has passed Komatsu’s most stringent quality standards.

KMAX is a GET product with a global patented tooth attachment/detachment system in which teeth are held in place with lateral pins. The features are outlined below.

Unique Features of KMAX
1) Safe and Speedy Tooth Exchange
This system is designed for quick installation or replacement with minimal hammering. Teeth can be changed simply by using a socket to unlock the fastener and install the new teeth.

2) Tooth Consumption
Teeth are generally replaced when wear reaches 40%, but KMAX can be used up to a maximum of 60% wear. This was achieved by enhancing tooth utilization via superior design and improvements in adapter-engaging parts.

3) Reusable Fastener
This unique fastener is designed to be unlocked with just a 90-degree turn of the socket. It is simple, functional and, most importantly, reusable. Save time and money with the KMAX fastening system.

4) Self-sharpening Teeth
The streamlined design of the entire system combined with the self-sharpening teeth helps increase penetration.

5) Heat-hardening Treatment Process (for tooth life)
Many companies offer teeth that are hard on the outside but soft on the inside because of inferior heat treatment. This leads to premature wear and adds to the cost. KMAX teeth are heat-treated to critical standards to ensure the teeth meet specifications both on the surface as well as at the core of the product.

6) Tooth Applications
KMAX has six varieties of teeth and can be refitted based on ground conditions.

KMAX is already installed on machines active around the world, including hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders. The system is garnering a strong reputation from customers in many regions on account of its contribution to boosting productivity and reducing costs through its superb functionality.

Demand for GET products has been rising on the back of an expanding mining market fueled by worldwide resource development. Keeping the customer foremost in mind, Komatsu will continue to aggressively pursue market introduction of the new KMAX as a product that addresses their needs.
