Komatsu participated in the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 trade show that ran from March 11 to 15 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG is the largest North American gathering place for the construction industries, attracting more than 140,000 industry professionals from over 130 countries besides the United States who attended to review new products, meet with more than 2,000 suppliers, network with peers and become educated and trained on the latest industry developments.

The goals for the show were to introduce as many people to Komatsu’s new products, enhancements and applications, capture leads for its distributors, communicate its focus on support (parts, service, training and KOMTRAX machine tracking system). Under Komatsu America Corp.’s (KAC) slogan “Proven Commitment / Proven Results,” Komatsu continued marketing and sales dialogues with current and prospective customers at the event.

Komatsu’s 2,787-m2 (30,000-ft2) exhibit space featured the introduction of new products like the D39 bulldozer (completely redesigned based on the success of the D51 bulldozer) and the WA250PZ parallel tool carrier, along with 22 other machines ranging from the new PC35 and PC45MR series compact hydraulic excavators to the large WA800 wheel loader.

Komatsu Booth Well Received by Numerous Visitors and Distribution Partners
Komatsu was pleased with the strong attendance at the booth. Many people spent time meeting with their distributors, product managers and management team, “kicking the tires” on Komatsu equipment and viewing a 14-minute video presentation that highlighted Komatsu’s overall value proposition, new products and customer testimonials. Visitors were also eager to learn about KOMTRAX. The Komatsu Challenge, an interactive video game in which up to six people at a time are able to test their skills driving a Komatsu truck down a haul road, also added to the fun and entertainment.

Komatsu received strong feedback from its distribution partners who felt our product teams were well-prepared to engage with visitors, answer their questions and capture relevant information to generate qualified leads. There was positive buzz about the new products and a lot of attention and interest in KOMTRAX.

The event was complemented by a day-long strategy meeting with over 300 members from Komatsu’s distribution partners and senior leadership from Komatsu Ltd. and KAC participating. Also, a well-attended press conference was held to kick off the event along with meetings and presentations with customers, distributors and analysts.

In short, the trade show provided one of the best venues to meet prospective customers who have not considered Komatsu in the past and get together with current customers to introduce new products and applications.
